Each soul is potentially divine. The goal is to manifest this divinity within, by controlling nature, external and internal. Do this either by work, or worship, or psychic control, or philosophy - by one, or more, or all of these - and be free. This is the whole of religion. Doctrines, or dogmas, or rituals, or books, or temples, or forms, are but secondary details -- Swami Vivekananda

This is my first blog ever. And for that reason, I thought I would write something about myself &, more importantly, my beliefs. It is with the same intention that I've started this blog with an inspirational quote, by One of the best of many soul stirring Saints that India has been fortunate enough to have. According to me, the greatness of Swami Vivekananda was , being the Great Hindu Saint that he was, he also had the knowledge about other religions & he could easliy debate about any religion, be it Christianity, Buddhism or Hinduism, in the same breath.

Well......back to the present.
Its been quite sometime since the bomb blasts in the Mumbai Trains. Its been a tough month for the average mumbaikar. The Bhivandi riots, the incessant rains & now, the blasts.
There is much talk about 'The Spirit of the Mumbaikar', thats doing the rounds in several sections of the media. Well, we must admit that the people of mumbai have shown incredible resilience. But its out of no choice that they came out of their homes & were going around their usual day2day life, the very next day. 'Twas sheer survival instinct that got them back on their feet. And add to this the 'Dont care' attitude. While the attitude to be not bogged down by even something like a bomb blast is commendable, the 'dont-care' attitue has to be done away with. One just cant sit back & let the city suffer, just because one has not been affected. This kind of callous indifference calls for absolute abhorrence.

More often than not, the reason for such callousness is that many of us think that we, as individuals, cannot do much in these matters.
Just going thru the very first sentence in this blog should help you dismiss that kind of thought. I am not saying that people dont come out in large numbers to help. No. We have seen that lot of people have actually gone out of their way to help those who were affected. But that act of affinity & sympathy should be taken forward. And such acts should be transformed into acts of proactivenss & the citicezens should come forward to actively participate in the investigations.

This is not the first time that India has been a sitting duck. The terrorists know that if they can survive the first couple of months after the blasts, then they are safe. Such is the 'confidence' that they have in our Law Enforcement Institutions. The govt makes all the right noices when the terror strikes. Even this time our PM has struck the right chord in the g-8 summit. But doing just that much wont help.
If India has to be taken seriously, it should be more pro-active in its approach towards the whole terror affair. Not just being reactive, as it is being now. It has to strike at the roots & pluck out the roots. Not just indulging in trimming the tree, when it overgrows.

Though the terrorists managed to blow up almost 7 trains, they saw very little success. Though, they afflicted huge amount of pain & sufferings on the passengers(& ofcourse, their relatives) who were either injured or killed in the blasts, the so-called jehadis still failed. Failed miserably in executing their bigger plan of creating communal conflicts & damaging the secular fabric of the city.
This is where the maturity of the average mumbaikar is worthy of appreciation.
